Australian Immigration

The Australia skills list or Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is used as part of the Australian points system for immigration. In order to qualify for skilled migration to Australia, you must nominate an occupation from the SOL. However, if you are applying for skilled migration via nomination by a State or Territory Government, you also have the option of nominating an occupation from the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL).

 

SUBCLASS 189 VISA

The Australian Skilled – Independent Visa (subclass 189) is an Australian skilled visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a state or territory, or a family member. A visa holder can live and work permanently anywhere in Australia. Certain family members can be included in the application.

You must score at least 65 points (the pass mark) on the Points Test to be eligible for this visa.

  • be invited to apply;
  • be younger than 45 years of age when you are invited to apply;
  • nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL);
  • have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation;
  • have at least competent English;
  • score at least 65 on the Points Test; AND meet the health and character requirements.
  • Stay indefinitely in Australia
  • work and study in Australia
  • Avail govt aided health care facilities
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times.
  • Apply for citizenship and Australian passport allowing visa free travel to many countries.

    SUBCLASS 190 VISA

    This is a permanent visa for eligible highly skilled workers who can meet the demand and requirements of a state in Australia. This subclass is state dependent which means that you must firs an expression of interest(EOI) for state nomination to a particular state in Australia such as NSW or Victoria for an example.

    After you receive nomination from a particular state, you will be given five(5) extra points to your total number of points which would result in a faster invitation from the government.

  • be invited to apply;
  • be younger than 45 years of age when you are invited to apply;
  • nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL);
  • have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation;
  • have at least competent English;
  • score at least 65 on the Points Test; AND meet the health and character requirements.
  • Stay indefinitely in Australia
  • work and study in Australia
  • Avail govt aided health care facilities
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times.
  • Apply for citizenship and Australian passport allowing visa free travel to many countries.
  • SUBCLASS 491 VISA (provisional)

    This is a provisional visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia
    • stay in Australia for 5 years
    • live, work and study in a designated regional area of Australia
    • travel to and from Australia as many times as you want, while the visa is valid
  • be invited to apply;
  • be younger than 45 years of age when you are invited to apply;
  • nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL);
  • have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation;
  • have at least competent English;
  • score at least 65 on the Points Test; AND meet the health and character requirements.
  • Stay indefinitely in Australia
  • work and study in Australia
  • Avail govt aided health care facilities
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times.
  • Apply for citizenship and Australian passport allowing visa free travel to many countries.

    Subclass 186 VISA

    (Employer Nomination Scheme)
